Finding the perfect pair of jeans for women 40 +

Finding the perfect pair of jeans is no easy feat, especially  with the number of styles on the market. Women go through  a range of body changes throughout their life so it’s no wonder finding jeans that look flattering and feel comfortable is a challenge. The good news is that the outdated rules of what you can and can’t wear are a thing of the past. Ultimately the best jeans for you are the ones you feel most comfortable and confident in.

The Key is to embrace the beauty in your own body shape and slip into the jeans that suit your figure.

Things to consider with fabric:

1) Colour

Dark denim certainly has its perks, as it can help to make our hips and thighs appear slimmer.  Lighter jeans can sometimes feel more casual than dark denim jeans.

2) Stretch

If your jeans aren’t comfortable they’ll likely head towards the bottom of your drawer. Take note of the label and opt for a fabric with some stretch, it’ll be much more comfortable.

Things to consider with style:

With so many styles on the market it can become overwhelming to decide. We really encourage you to try on various styles to see what you feel comfortable in. Over the years you may have

1) Bootcut

If you opt for a boot-cut style of jean then pair them with your favourite boots or sneakers. Best to have shoes with a bit of extra lift to give you some height, especially if the jean falls lower than your ankle.

2) Skinny Jeans

If you have opted for a skinny or straight leg jean then you can pair them with your favourite footwear and have more option. Ballet flats, heels, boots, sandals or loafers all look great with a more fitted jean.

3) Jogger Jeans

We love a good jogger jean at Stanley & Stone.  Not only are the comfortable but they are a great asset to your wardrobe and sometimes a better option than your active wear or your favourite track pant.  Our Italian Star Jogger jeans come in a range of colours and styles to suit all body shapes.

Joggers will flatter if you have a relatively straight figure, or you want to add a bit of shape by drawing attention to your hips and thighs. The tapered leg emphasises the angle of your shape from hip to ankle. This is a plus when you want to add the appearance of your cures and add a bit of shape.  Pop on your favourite pair of sneakers or ballet flats and you can head out for the day in style without compromising on your comfort.

Other tips:

Experiment with how you style your tops

Have fun experimenting with various tops to style with your  jeans, we love a pair of jeans that look flattering that you can  dress up and down. A versatile pair that will take you from  day to night with a few additions (like jewellery and heels/ boots, a jacket.) Consider wearing a longer top or shirt. Sometimes a shorter top can make your torso appear a little out of proportion, so adding a lengthier top can make your jeans look a little more flattering. Add a belt around the smallest part of your waist to add some dimension and add a bit of extra curve, this can also be used with a knit.

Found a style you love? Buy them in other colour variations.

If you’ve struck gold and found the perfect pair, be sure to check if they come in any other colours.
